Toyota In NASCAR

NASCAR has played host since the very beginnings in the 50's to some of the best racing you can see. On any given Sunday from February to November, you may have seen Ford's battling Dodge's, Plymoth's duking it out with Chevy's. Though NASCAR has never seen a foreign make have any long term success any of it's divisions. Sure, others have tried. Makes like Jaguar and other European makes have made attempts and have had a couple minor successes but nothing that has gotten people's attention. Toyota Motor Corp. intends to be the first.
Toyota Motor Corp. has over the past year or two become the make that threatens everyone. They are poised to take the top spot in worldwide sales away from GM and are constantly churning out new cars from hybrids to pickups. Toyota has a solid hold on every obvious niche in the car world. But the civilian car world is not the only place Toyota has made it's presence known. Toyota has become one of the big spenders in Formula 1 over the past year or two, rumors having it that they spent more than Ferrari last year. Unfortunately, their investment has not returned the results they were hoping for. Toyota hopes to change their luck with their entrance into NASCAR.

While Toyota is working away behind closed doors on their new Toyota Camry NASCAR car, the public is beginning to question whether or not Toyota should be allowed to participate both based on the rulebook and the moral standings of the original NASCAR. According to the NASCAR rulebook, the only rule pertaining to makes and models entering NASCAR is that the vehicle must be produced in America, which the Camry is (Kentucky). So, so much for the rulebook. But, angered fans still fell that the sport is being violated. Since the very beginning, the vast majority of competitors in NASCAR with a few exceptions have been made by American companies. NASCAR is viewed by many as the all-American sport, and they feel that it should stay that way unless NASCAR wants to ruin what made NASCAR the great institution it is today.
